Crude oil is used in the manufacture of nylon, polyester, and rayon, all of which are materials used in clothes production. Crude oil also helps in the manufacture of hangers, since they are made stronger by petroleum-based resins.
Crude oil is also used in insulation. A lot of people do not know this, but the insulation that keeps heat from escaping or entering homes is made of petroleum, which is a by-product of crude oil. You also find a lot of kitchen items such as fridges, and non-stick pots and pans having petroleum as a component in their production.
